Operation UNIFIER Run for Dacha

Операція "ЮНIФАЄР" в Україні працює з 2015 року. Місією операції є допомога у навчанні українських військових, обмін досвідом і підтримка. Канадські війська, які беруть участь в операції, походять з 1-го батальйону Королівського канадського полку. Канадський внесок у навчання надають близько 200 солдатів, що проводять ротацію кожні 6 місяців. Як солдати ми розуміємо, ЩО означає бути далеко від дому, не мати можливості обійняти своїх дітей, своїх рідних, сумувати за маминим пирогом.

Суть нашої професії – захищати світ, щоб родини були разом і у безпеці. У 2018 році ми познайомились з Центром "Дача", яким опікується благодійний фонд "Запорука". Слово "Дача" в українській мові означає "літній будиночок", "будинок для родинного відпочинку". Наразі це орендований будинок, що приймає до 100 родин в рік, які приїжджають з усієї країни до Києва, аби вилікувати своїх дітей від онкології. І це справді місце, де діти які ведуть війну з невидимим ворогом, можуть бути зі своєю родиною, пройти це випробування разом. Це місце, де пахне маминим пирогом, а тато спить у твоїй халабуді і цілує твою лису голівку, читаючи казку. Кожна ротація наших колег передавала нам історію про центр "Дача" і просили продовжувати піклуватися про її мешканців. І ми продовжуємо. Ми не робили нічого особливого, просто були поруч, малювали, розважались, грались. Ми розуміли, коли потрібна серйозніша допомога і збирали кошти, аби забезпечити "Дачу" необхідною побутовою технікою чи іншим приладдям. Ми вважаємо за честь взяти участь у KindFamilyRun і допомогти "Запоруці" завершити будівництво власної "Дачі", яка не буде орендована і прийматиме втричі більше родин, які мають таку потребу.

Operation UNIFIER has started its mission in Ukraine in 2015. Its main goal is to support the Security Forces of Ukraine, it focuses mainly on assisting with the Ukrainian security force training and experience exchange. The Canadian troops involved in the operation come from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment. About 200 CAF members who are being in Ukraine on a 6-month deployment provide the Canadian contribution to the training. As soldiers, we understand what it’s to be so far away from home, to not be able to hug your children, your loved ones, to miss your mother’s special cooking. The purpose of our profession is to protect the world so that families are together and safe.

In 2018, we’ve discovered Dacha Center, which is being taken care of by Charitable Foundation Zaporuka. The word “Dacha” in Ukrainian means “summer house”, “house for family vacation”. As of right now, it is a rented house that offers accommodation up to 100 families a year that come from all over Ukraine to Kyiv in order to treat their children’s cancer. It is truly a place, where children and their families fight against this invisible enemy together. This is a place where it smells like mom’s cake, and where dad sleeps in their kid’s hut and kisses their bald head while reading them a fairy tale.

Each rotation of our colleagues has been passing down the story of Dacha to the next group, asking to continue to support and care for children in its care. We do it. We didn’t do anything special, we were just being there, drawing, having fun, playing. When Dacha needed something, we raised funds to provide necessary household appliances or other goods. It is an honor for us to take a part in the KindFamilyRun and help Zaporuka finish the construction of the Dacha house, that will no longer be rented and will host three times more families in need.

The cost of the project is UAH 18,000,000. The Dacha building is already 80% complete. We still need to raise UAH 3,000,000. The goal of the charity race is to raise UAH 1,000,000.
