We are strong when you are with us

Every day, thousands of Ukrainian mothers face the challenges of their children's serious illness. Despite their own fear and pain, they find the strength to remain courageous and tender at the same time.

But even the strongest need our support. On Mother's Day, which is celebrated worldwide on May 12, the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation and 1+1 media invite everyone who cares to join the circle of support for mothers of children with serious illnesses to give them the most valuable thing - a chance to recover!

Matviy Bilash, 6 years old, Chervonohrad

A year ago, the neighbor's pug, Buffy, sat on Matviy's chest and began to whimper as if she was in trouble. And indeed, doctors soon diagnosed the boy with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Matviy loves to watch the machinery, so he was very happy to see the construction of the parking lot from the hospital window. His mother is always with her son. After putting him to bed, she turns on the nightlight and picks up a needle and thread to embroider flowers on the canvas and recuperate.

Now Matviyko is in remission. He returned home, where his friend Buffy was waiting for him.

Bohdana Dulysh, 9 years old, Slobidka village

Bogdana was not yet two years old when doctors diagnosed her with neuroblastoma. The little girl bravely withstood the painful procedures. The huge equipment with which she underwent radiation seemed like a spaceship to her. Her mother was by her side and helped her through the pain.

Bohdanka loves everything related to the railroad, because her father works there. She associates him with the holiday, because he used to come to the hospital hiding behind a huge bright helium balloon.

The girl is now in remission. She sings in the church choir, plays the synthesizer, violin and drums. A real human orchestra.

Danylko Slobodian, 11 years old, Lviv

At the age of two, Danylo was diagnosed with retroperitoneal neuroblastoma. After a year of treatment, he relapsed and had to undergo another year of painful procedures.

Danylo is a real fidget spinner. He jumped on the hospital bed even when his platelets were "at zero". He would easily find a common language with the superhero Flash, who moves at supersonic speed.

Because of the "chemistry", the boy could not walk for some time. His parents sent him to swimming lessons and bought him a bike, which he used to ride around the hospital. Thanks to these activities, Danylo recovered quickly.

More life-affirming stories are on display at the illustration exhibition "We are strong when you are with us" at Forum Lviv shopping center, which runs from May 30 to June 31.
