Cancer is curable if detected in time!

According to the Ministry of Health, the incidence of malignant tumors among children in Ukraine is not the highest in the world, but the mortality rate exceeds global figures.

One of the main reasons is untimely and poor primary diagnosis. Mostly, children are admitted to specialized institutions at late stages, when it is very difficult to treat the disease and the recovery rate is already lower. While surgery is sufficient at the first stage, at the second and third stages, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which are extremely expensive methods, are used.

Unfortunately, most of our citizens believe that a child cannot get cancer. This is an unfortunate result of a certain information vacuum in terms of awareness of pediatric oncology.

Most of the projects implemented by NGOs are mainly focused on overcoming the consequences of the disease rather than on the importance of early detection of malignant tumors. That is why Zaporuka has launched the Prevent the Trouble project, which aims to inform about the results of successful treatment of children's tumors due to timely diagnosis. We tell primary care physicians and parents about the main symptoms of malignant tumors in children, and explain where to go if necessary. We also generally draw public attention to the field of pediatric oncology.
