"Home away from home" is an area within which the foundation's team develops a space of care, safety and support for children and families when their lives change due to illness or crisis. It's not just about walls and a roof over your head - it's about people who are there for you and help you feel that you are not alone. We improve the conditions in hospitals, develop the volunteer community, and support families so they can focus on what matters most - life.
One of these spaces of care is family house "Dacha"which has been hosting families from all over Ukraine for 16 years, whose children are undergoing long-term treatment in medical institutions in Kyiv and Lviv. Here, residents receive comprehensive support: home comfort, psychological assistance, and the opportunity to work with a physical therapist.
Thanks to its experience and values, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion in 2022, Zaporuka Foundation joined forces with partners to support families from the affected communities. In the Novoyarichivska community in the Lviv region, we created a home for people who lost their homes to the war. About 80 people received their own comfortable housing in 30 separate apartments, And most importantly, they found support, community, and the opportunity to start over.
