Ukraine begins preparations for Giving Tuesday
Every year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the whole world unites to help others and develop charity. The American Asha Curran founded the World Day for Good Deeds or #GivingTuesday. This holiday idea came to her mind when she saw how much Americans spend on discounted items on Black Friday, and she decided: why not use these funds for good deeds.
For the third year in a row, in cooperation with the Zagoriy Foundation, we are joining an international initiative so that giving for good cases became a useful habit for everyone.
As part of #GivingTuesday that will be held this year on December 1, schools will have #KindnessLessons, lessons of charity during which children will learn more about what kindness is, types of charitable assistance and how you can help others in Ukraine and the world. The initiative will also include charity fairs, performances, concerts and other activities to foster a culture of good deeds among children and youth. Over the past two years, more than 300 schools have joined the campaign and 1,000,000 UAH has been raised to help children with cancer.
This year we are not resting on our laurels and are setting an ambitious goal – to involve more than 400 schools to the #GivingTuesday movement. We will provide schools with exciting and useful online master classes, trainings and meetings with stars for charitable donations, as well as prepare flash mobs and contests with useful gifts.
All funds raised at the charity events will be used to support children living with their families at the Center for Children Affected by Cancer Dacha.
