On New Year's Eve, the bacteriology laboratory of the National Cancer Institute received a new equipment - the long-awaited automatic analyzer VITEK 2 compact.
The cost of the equipment is UAH 1,979,999! However, the benefit from it will be many times more valuable.
After all, the main thing that VITEK 2 compact is capable of is determining sensitivity to antimicrobial drugs. Due to this, it will be possible to quickly adjust the treatment program, making it much more effective.
Having such a wide antibiotic program, clinicians will be able to prescribe an individual treatment program for the patient, taking into account his characteristics: concomitant diseases, immunity, susceptibility to allergies, etc.
In addition, the analyzer is able to quickly identify a bacterial or fungal pathogen (over 300 species!), which allows obtaining high accuracy of diagnoses, reducing the number of additional examinations, as well as shortening the time of patients' stay in the hospital.
The transfer of equipment took place within the RELIEF project of the "Zaporuka" charitable foundation and Soleterre Onlus, which is financed by AICS, the Italian Agency for the Development of Cooperation AICS. Its purpose is comprehensive support of internally displaced persons, shelters and communal facilities of Kyiv, Poltava and Cherkasy regions.
