If we look at children in the department, we can see completely different stories and destinies. Cancer brought grown-up problems to children’s lives, at the same time making them stronger.
For more than six years, this is also the merit of the partners from Raiffeisen Bank Aval, who has been continuously supporting children from the National Cancer Institute, the Institute of Neurosurgery, and the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center. Over the last year, the assistance amounted to 296,000 UAH. This amount includes both assistance to individual children and provision of supplies to the departments to prevent coronavirus spread – all to ensure that each case history ends successfully.
Every cancer story is different. Someone like Maksym or Hanna was admitted to the pediatric department of the Cancer Institute because of severe pain, which became the starting point for their diagnosis. For someone like Yaroslav, the world got dark because of the disease, and then cancer struck again, affecting his kidneys. For Alina, cancer became an obstacle to a career as a hairdresser, and Vika lost her passion for dancing.
The light of hope in any difficult situation is the support of the others. When children and their parents receive help, they feel not only sincere gratitude but also their importance. Help and hugs that they receive are those actions that show them: “You are important. Your life is precious. Your child should live and will definitely survive!”
Raiffeisen Bank Aval was such support during 2020. When the pandemic started, our reliable partners provided the department with disinfectants and masks to protect kids with weak immunity from the dangerous virus. In addition to protection, they made it possible for nine patients to continue treatment, and the departments of the National Cancer Institute, the Institute of Neurosurgery and the Western Ukrainian Specialized Medical Center in Lviv always had the necessary medical supplies.
We are grateful to our partners for supporting children every day!
