Protecting Children with Cancer from COVID-19
Quarantine is loosened, but not for children with cancer: for them, any risk can be fatal. We continue fighting for their lives, and we are now working twice as hard to save them.
To overcome COVID-19, the International Renaissance Foundation contributed to assisting children with cancer, providing a grant of 55,000 UAH. With these funds, we purchased 6 liters of concentrate for disinfection of hands and surfaces, 2,500 masks, 2,200 pairs of shoe covers, and 600 pairs of gloves for the Pediatric Department of the Cancer Institute and the Dacha Center.
In addition to PPE, the Cancer Institute also received 30 vials of the chemotherapeutic drug Carboplatin, that’s a monthly supply for our kids. This drug is usually purchased by the state, but due to delays in public procurement it did not get to the hospital.
We continue working for the recovery of children with cancer: funds are being raised to further replenish the emergency fund so that children receive appropriate treatment during quarantine.
We are grateful to the Renaissance Foundation for helping our children. You can contribute too: https://zaporuka.org.ua/
