We raised 462,000 UAH to purchase a new cytocentrifuge for the oncohematology department of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center in Lviv.
The equipment is essential for monitoring the condition of children with blood system disorders. With its help, doctors determine the disease’s stage, the progress of treatment, and whether blood cells remain affected after treatment.
About 400 samples of biological fluids are prepared annually by the hospital, using the cytocentrifuge. According to these statistics, hundreds of children cannot wait for the moment of healing but need help immediately. The outdated equipment used before could fail at any time and thus, delay the treatment of patients, which is why the new equipment is already in the department.
The new centrifuge is an excellent opportunity for doctors who have already been trained to use the equipment. There are better cytopreparations, faster processing, 23 programs in memory, 100% of cells are transferred to a vial with a fixator, which avoids the drying phase of cells. It is possible to perform additional or repeated tests without re-sampling.
