Bacteriological Analyzer is Already in the Lviv Hospital
Every year, about 1000 children are admitted to the Onco-Hematology Department of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center with acute or chronic diseases.
During their treatment, it is especially important to control the microorganisms, as the pathology can be caused or complicated by their activity.
To effectively combat infections, the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics is determined by a special bacteriological analyzer.
With the laboratory tests, the doctor makes sure that individually selected therapy will be effective and will not lead to side effects.
The old analyzer had served the department for 10 years but for the last 2 years it remained broken. The doctors had to wait for at least five days for every test result from the laboratory wasting precious time that could be used for kids’ treatment.
After getting to know about the necessity to update the laboratory, our friends from the Monobank and the Courage Bazaar immediately expressed the desire to help and raised 1,760,000 UAH to purchase the innovative device Phoenix M50.
The new analyzer gives a complete description of the culture of microorganisms and information on infection control. It covers the needs of all the cancer patients of the Department of Oncohematology and Surgery as well as the patients with cystic fibrosis and immunodeficiency!
We are grateful to the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, the Monobank Ukraine and the Courage Bazaar for the timely salvation of hundreds of lives.
