As a teenager, Anastasia was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left shoulder. After undergoing several chemotherapy treatments in her native Dnipro, doctors referred her to the National Cancer Institute for surgery. Kyiv, the capital, was the only place where specialists could install a bone endoprosthesis, which in Nastia’s case was the only chance for salvation.
The cost of an endoprosthesis was 45,000 UAH. The funds were needed urgently because the surgery has to be performed immediately. However, being a single mother with two children, Nastia’s mother could not cope with her daughter’s disease on her own, so she turned to our foundation for help.
