2020 was full of unexpected events for all of us, but only by following this path, we can see its positive aspects. After all, despite the difficulties, together we managed to achieve our main annual goal, which is to be a reliable support for children with cancer and their families.
This year, 146 children received individual assistance during treatment. 47 children underwent rehabilitation after surgery, and 417 children and parents found the resources to fight for life with the help of psychological support. 70 children and more than 100 of their family members found a new home in the Dacha Center while hundreds of kilometers from home. Dacha is the house where childhood continues despite the disease.
Construction works of the New Dacha continued. As of now, the house is 70% ready. This percentage includes the installation of communications inside the house, the completion of drywall and plaster works, floor cement screed, and the boiler facility’s construction.
2020 was also significant for us due to the launch of a new large-scale project – the bone marrow transplant department at the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center in Lviv. This is the second such department in Ukraine that will make bone marrow transplantation more accessible for children with various tumors.
2020 was turbulent, but only the bravest accepted all the challenges and survived. We are grateful to each of you for being with us so that every child with cancer can overcome the disease.
