The ninth charity bike ride «I pedal so they can live,» organized by the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation, took place in Lviv«
This year the event brought together 240 participants — families, veterans, the cycling community, doctors, volunteers, and all caring citizens who came to the starting line for the sake of children fighting cancer. Young people who overcame cancer in childhood and have become a true example that the disease can be beaten also took part in the bike ride.
Thanks to the contributions of our partners, we were able to raise UAH 1,000,000. Traditionally, the city doubled this amount, so a total of 2 million hryvnias will be allocated to help young patients.
The funds will be used to purchase a modern ultrasound diagnostic system for the Clinical Center of Children's Medicine. The equipment will help doctors more quickly and accurately assess the condition of children with cancer, particularly patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
«For us, this bike ride has always been a great celebration of kindness, not just a sporting event or a charity fundraiser. Every year, we see hundreds of people who get on their bikes and choose to stand by children. It is thanks to this support that we are able to improve treatment conditions and help doctors save children's lives,» noted Nataliia Onipko, founder of the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation.
Over the years of the bike ride, the foundation, together with its partners, has systematically helped update the departments. Clinical Center of Pediatric Medicine and to purchase the necessary equipment.
Every year, dozens of partners, socially responsible businesses, and hundreds of caring people join the bike ride. In particular, this year's event was supported by:
