The Regional Medical Center for Family Health in Dnipro has completed the reconstruction of the physical and rehabilitation medicine department. Now inpatients will have more comfortable treatment conditions. In the renovated department, the hospital's professional multidisciplinary team will provide barrier-free rehabilitation services to patients, including people with injuries sustained as a result of hostilities.
The reconstruction of the department was supported by the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation as part of the project "Strengthening the Capacity of Healthcare Institutions in Ukraine", which is being implemented jointly with Soleterre and funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
Since February 2022, the Regional Medical Center for Family Health has taken over the treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of children and adults from the eastern and southern regions affected by the hostilities. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Center has received 696 adults and children with injuries, traumas, and complications caused by Russia's military aggression. In order to continue providing quality rehabilitation services to patients, the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Department needed to be updated, including the inpatient unit, which provides care during acute, post-acute and long-term treatment. At each of these stages, people need proper comfortable conditions that will help them recover. About 30 patients receive inpatient rehabilitation care per month.
For the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation, the development of rehabilitation is an important contribution to the recovery of Ukrainians affected by the war. We are aware that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression, the city of Dnipro has become a frontline zone that receives thousands of people with injuries. That is why it is important for us to be here and strengthen medical facilities so that doctors can continue to provide assistance in a humane and professional manner. We are grateful to our partners who understand the importance of this area of work and provide funding for the implementation of rehabilitation projects," says Natalia Onipko, founder and president of the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation.
The total cost of repair works in the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is as follows UAH 4.5 million. The next step in the cooperation and strengthening of the hospital is the purchase of modern equipment for the development of the Center's rehabilitation department.
