Recently, we learned from the specialists of St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv (one of the 13 institutions that our foundation currently supports) that out of 300 wounded children, one third of them are admitted with shrapnel brain injuries. As a result, they all need serious cognitive rehabilitation.
Unlike the rather boring traditional method of using "pencil and paper" (when exercises are performed by writing, reading, drawing), the modern computer simulator RehaCom makes the process of cognitive rehabilitation more inspiring - by a factor of about 100! Or more. And for children, as you know, this is a very important factor.
With the financial support of the Global Fund for Children, our foundation purchased this unique system worth UAH 991,440 for St. Nicholas Hospital, which significantly strengthened its rehabilitation department.
The RehaCom system includes 29 programs. Each of them is designed for a specific type of cognitive impairment (memory, attention, concentration, perception, etc.).
Training of basic functions:
- goes from simple to the most complex level
- adapts to each child
- can be carried out in interaction between a doctor and a patient or between a computer and a patient
- motivation feedback and opportunity assessment are also taken into account
RehaCom helps even in severe cases. Thanks to this program, about 100 children a year will be able to significantly improve their cognitive performance. We thank our partner Global Fund for Children for this precious opportunity.
