Repair of a blood analyzer at the National Cancer Institute
A vital device at the Cancer Institute has broken down. The blood analyzer, which doctors use to measure the level of the chemotherapy drug Methotrexate, which is prescribed to children with osteosarcoma, stopped working.
The device helped specialists to determine the indicators and prevent side effects during high-dose chemotherapy. There are only two such devices in Ukraine, and one of them is at the Cancer Institute.
If the level of chemotherapy is not monitored, chemotherapy will have a detrimental effect: the drugs will accumulate in the blood and internal organs will suffer.
The device needs urgent repair at a cost of UAH 17,520. Safe and effective treatment of children with cancer without research is simply impossible, and children cannot wait for help - time is against them.
