Psychological support for children and their families

The Zaporuka Foundation's team of psychologists are professionals who work every day with pain, anxiety, and brokenness, and at the same time with hope, trust, and renewed strength.

We provide comprehensive psychological support to those who are going through changes due to illness or life-threatening conditions. Back in 2008, we were one of the first to introduce a psychological support service in the pediatric oncology department. Today, the work of psychologists covers five key areas:

1. Caring for seriously ill children

When a child is ill, the whole family needs support. Our psychologists work with young patients and their families every day in the hospital:

- 4 hospitals - in pediatric oncology and rehabilitation departments;

- 2 Dacha family homes in Kyiv and Lviv, where children and their families live during long-term treatment.

2. Support for victims of mine injuries

We support the work of psychologists who work with adults and children who have suffered mine injuries:

- in 3 hospitals (Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv) that receive patients with injuries;

- through a hotline - when it is impossible to be there physically, but you can support with words and attention.

3. Assistance to healthcare professionals

Those who save lives often do not have time to take care of their own.
We support doctors, nurses, and physical therapists through:

- group trainings;

- individual psychological counseling;

- information materials for the prevention of emotional burnout.

4. Psychological support for women with experience of domestic violence

We create a safe space where women can feel their dignity, value and right to care again. We support the work of female specialists:

- in 2 shelters for women victims of domestic violence (Lviv region);

- in 3 day support centers in Lviv region.

5. Support of the foundation team

We believe that you can help for a long time and with high quality only if you have internal resources. That is why we take care of our employees and volunteers:

- We hold supervisory sessions;

- organize days of psychological relief;

- implementing emotional well-being programs.

By taking care of each other, we can do more for those who need support the most.
