On St. Nicholas Day, the Zaporuka Charitable Foundation presented the young patients of the National Cancer Institute with a renovated inclusive space. This important gift for the children was made possible thanks to the financial support of our partners GlobalGiving Foundation.

The most desirable thing for the kids was the opening of a new playroom. Modern design, bright walls, comfortable furniture - this is exactly how it was created to distract the little patients from the hospital routine and forget about their illness for a moment. Now children have an additional space for leisure, where they can play, read books or watch their favorite cartoons.

In addition to the playroom, the renovated space has 6 new, modern wards, where both children and their families, who are always close by, feel comfortable. One of these rooms was a gift from the charitable organization Soleterre.

"This space was originally planned to be barrier-free, because caring for every child, regardless of their needs, is our priority. We are grateful to our partners who helped us to realize this renovation just before the winter holidays. On St. Nicholas Day, we gave the children more than just renovated rooms - we gave them warmth, comfort and joy that will support them on their way to recovery" says Natalia Onipko, President of the Zaporuka Foundation.

Every day, the pediatric oncology department sees about 40 children who go through the challenges of long-term treatment. It is very important to have quality medical care and comfortable conditions for recovery. That is why Zaporuka has been taking care of the young patients of the National Cancer Institute for more than 16 years, since the foundation of the foundation. To provide comprehensive support to children and their families, the foundation provides physical therapists and psychologists at the hospital. In addition, it renovates the wards and regularly purchases new equipment, medicines, and supplies.
