Every day, doctors in Lviv medical institutions give a chance for a healthy future to children with serious illnesses who come for treatment from different cities of Ukraine. Often, for many patients, this involves months of prolonged treatment, which creates additional financial and emotional challenges for the whole family.
To help such families in difficult times, the Zaporuka Foundation is implementing the Home Away from Home project. The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the CO "100 Percent Life Network Rivne" and with the financial support of the European Union in Ukraine as part of the EU4CSOs EmpowerUA project.
As part of the Home Away from Home project, the Zaporuka Foundation team provides comfort for families in the Dacha family home near hospitals in Lviv, and provides comprehensive support to patients and their families, including psychological, legal, and social services.
In the year since Dacha was opened in Lviv, 58 families have received free accommodation and professional psychological assistance. Now even more families are receiving comfort and care at Dacha thanks to the Home Away from Home project.
"For 16 years, our foundation has been working to ensure that families facing serious diagnoses of their children are not left alone with the trials of fate. "Dacha by Zaporuka Foundation has become a place of strength and support for such families. Our new project "Home away from home" is an additional step towards systemic support for Ukrainian families in times of crisis. We thank our partners for their trust and support of this important initiative", - says Natalia OnipkoPresident of the Zaporuka Foundation.
In addition to support services, the Zaporuka team already organizes creative activities, workshops, field trips, and other leisure activities for children and their families to help them restore their inner resources and resilience. This is important for both children and their families, who are often their closest support.
