During the war, many families of children with cancer have to stay in Ukraine. Some do not want to leave their loved ones, while others do not have an urgent need for evacuation abroad. After all, in some cases, for example, chemotherapy is prescribed only once a week - and it can be done in Ukraine.
We must ensure basic procedures and support in hospitals that remain functional in relatively safe regions.
Centralized clinics, including the National Cancer Institute, are currently unable to provide the full range of medical services. However, there are still hospitals in Ukraine that are ready to partially take on this challenge.
City Children's Hospital in Khmelnytsky became one of these examples. This is where the team "Zaporuka" together with partners Soleterre Onlus decided to promptly deliver medicines and equipment. This allows doctors from the NICU to come here and continue treating children.
"We are ready even now, if only we had something to work with," the doctors say.
"We'll organize it, you know us," the Zaporuka team replies.
The Fund signed the first contract for UAH 758,000 for procurement:
portable ultrasound machine,
aspirators,
biopsy needles.
This is only the first step - more will follow. We believe that together we can provide treatment even in difficult conditions.
UAH 758,000 has been concluded. And this is just the beginning.
